Our client, an innovative, renowned Firm, has retained PSG to bring a Director, Technology Services into their outstanding IT organization. This firm has about 400 attorney across the country.
Responsible for the planning, directing, and coordinating of the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems. This includes managing the development, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of all new and existing network and desktop software, hardware and communication links. Schedules and directs the activities of a team of Network Engineers, Telecommunications Engineer, Desktop Engineers, and Security Engineer in a high availability customer-focused environment for all offices nationwide.
Works to keep the team, the department and the firm advised of changes occurring in technology and how they might apply to the business. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and standards and ensures their conformance with firm objectives. Ensures a solid security posture, protecting the Firm’s electronic assets.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct management to staff assigned to the Technology Services team. Organizes, prioritizes, directs and controls the work within the department in providing technical support of a Wide Area Network, Server/Storage infrastructure, VoIP systems, desktop configuration, and network administration.
Manage the development and implementation of a network strategy that services the on-going requirements of the firm.
Manage network services activities provided by vendors including the administration of contracts.
Observe and describe technical situations from a management perspective.
Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and all other security systems.
Respond to client security assessments and RFP proposals, addressing requirements as they surface.
Negotiate with vendors and contractors to enhance products and services.
Develop and manage the IS Department budget, including the software/hardware procurement processes.
Conduct performance reviews and take corrective action to members of Technology Services team.
Acquire, manage, and ensure optimal operation of all voice and data networks.
Oversee Information Services audits, provide statistical data for industry surveys.
Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Effectively apply IT concepts, practices, methods, and principles in solving complex business and technical issues.
Organize, develop priorities, direct and control the workload within the Technology Services team.
Participate in the establishment of customer service related process, procedures, tools and documentation.
Provide disaster recovery capabilities, procedures and testing.
Analyze business systems to determine effectiveness; identify inadequacies, inefficiencies and problems; develop system specifications.
Maintain high percentage of system availability.
Engage and manage contract development resources when appropriate.
Assist in management of department when CIO is unavailable.
