Morrison & Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm with 16 offices worldwide, has an opening for a Director of Data Science Analysis within our Information Technology Department in our San Francisco office.
Guided by department and firmwide objectives and priorities, serves to improve firm strategy, delivery of legal services, and operations using data science tools and techniques. Responsible for developing and gaining buy-in for the program strategy, identifying the individuals, resources, and tools necessary to accomplish the strategy, and overseeing execution and ongoing operations. Serves as a thought leader within the firm and in the broader community, and possesses deep data science experience in a variety of industries and scenarios. Ensures client service and satisfaction are attained in all areas of position.
Education and Experience
A master's degree or above in a related field (computer science, information management, etc.).
At least 10 years of experience applying data science in one or more industries, with a demonstrated record of successful outcomes.
Managerial and technical experience conceiving, building, and launching decision support tools.
Current, extensive knowledge of data science tools including Big Data storage and processing (e.g. Hadoop), machine learning (e.g. IBM Watson), content analytics (e.g. Elasticsearch), etc.
Experience leading technology strategy and teams in a variety of capacities.
Experience marshalling resources to successfully accomplish significant programs in large, geographically dispersed, matrixed environments.
Experience working in the legal profession, with a strong peer and vendor network.
Reputation as a thought leader in the data science/machine learning/Artificial Intelligence community.
