Mayer Brown continues to globalize and standardize the Financial Systems application and technology platforms; this role being paramount in contributing to the success of these global projects. The Financial Applications Architect role is critical to the daily support of the Financial Systems, priority finance projects and the overall stability and direction of the environments and systems of the Financial area.
Drive the strategic technical architecture, software authoring standards, methodologies and processes, technical project management, implementation planning, and software maintenance for the accounting, finance, procurement and pricing applications
Set strategic application architecture direction and application governance, design principles and information architecture
Coach the application team in the overall architecture and development of the application solution
Define, design, integrate and resolve functional issues within the financial application portfolio
Liaise with Firm management, sponsors, users and IT personnel regarding operational status and plans
Consult with business partners on business process analysis and design of applications
Evaluate business processes automation opportunities and recommend improvements
Responsible for level III support for accounting applications; participate in 24/7, 365 days on-call support rotation, as needed. Align working hours as necessary to support global teams and business partners
Serve as technical lead on projects of increasing size and complexity
Participate in hardware and/or software R & D efforts, primarily for, but not limited to, accounting applications
Define and create project plans and engage required participants for technology proofs-of-concept as required
Develop and cultivate relationships and communication lines with key business partners, stakeholders and strategic vendors
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, which should include 10+ years in the technology industry with experience in a Professional Services industry (e.g. Accounting Firm, Consulting Firm, Law Firm, etc.)
Experience and familiarity of Aderant Expert preferred
10+ years application experience working with ERP, client/server, web-based systems
5+ years hands-on experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management methodologies
5+ years in business process management including; documentation, reengineering and measurement
5+ years experience in application architecture with an emphasis on usability
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project
Knowledge of hardware, software, network, application and systems engineering. SQL Server experience required
Possess a detailed understanding of business processes as they relate to accounting systems
Strong adaptability to changing organizational needs; capability to drive implementation and evolution of IT departmental project management practices
Ability to build consensus and drive value
Ability to work effectively with stakeholders on a global basis
Ability to act as a role model (lead, mentor) for other members of the department regarding leadership, work ethic, self-improvement and career development
Light lifting; up to 30 lbs.
