Our IT Department has an opening for a Senior Desktop Engineer, who can be located in one of our Bay Area offices. The Senior Desktop Engineer will have extensive experience in all aspects of Desktop related technologies including designing, building, and administration. This includes software for personal computers, creating zero-touch Microsoft Windows based image and using enterprise management technologies such as Microsoft SCCM, Group Policy, Active Directory, PowerShell and related tools to deploy the image and all firm applications. The Senior Desktop Engineer will define and design the Fenwick desktop computer strategy for the entire enterprise including thick image for laptops and desktops and virtual images for VMWare. This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining images, software packages, updates, installation, and security patches. Fenwick utilizes a zero-touch approach and the Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for developing solutions which minimize labor while preserving the end user’s data.
An ideal candidate is an expert at working with end-users, gathering information, assessing problems, determining appropriate resources and must demonstrate leadership in a team environment. The candidate must have advanced troubleshooting skills for computer hardware and software as well as related virtual desktops. This role will also serve as backup for our server patching via SCCM.
A Bachelors or Master’s degree in a computer related course of study or 8 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree plus the requirements noted below.
5 or more years of experience deploying applications, Microsoft Windows based images, and patches with an Enterprise Workstation Management tool such as SCCM, Group Policy, and PowerShell.
Experience with process design and technical documentation.
Ability to apply research, knowledge and logic to successfully troubleshoot technical problems.
Expert customer service, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Can easily adapt to changing priorities and conditions in a fast-paced environment.
