The Director of IT provides leadership to, and management of, the Information Technology department and sets the long-term vision for the Firm’s information-based functions and technology. He or she will guide the development, implementation, and use of technology in meeting Firm and client needs. He or she will also be responsible for the Firm’s security initiatives.
Continuously strive to increase the Firm’s effectiveness using information technologies
Director will need to manage a clear technology strategy to support the technology needs of the firm.
Continuously improve existing solutions through hardware or software upgrades, as needed, or migration to new solutions if appropriate.
Lead the development of new security & data privacy initiatives to ensure the firm’s and client data is protected.
Ensure that the firm has a robust and comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) program in place.
Work with IT Committee and other firm members in system planning and evaluation of new hardware and software solutions.
Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
Manage and develop IT department personnel.
Manage outside vendor and IT consultants effectively and efficiently.
Establish and maintain written policies, procedures and workflows.
Network with legal IT community to stay abreast of industry trends.
Education & Experience:
Must have 10 years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 5 in a leadership role with demonstrated ability to think strategically and build/implement strategic plans.
Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, business administration or related field.
Formal training in broad range of relevant operating systems and applications.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of all aspects of information technology, including computers, printers, networks, security, applications and telecommunications.
Knowledge in the following software: MS Windows, MS Server, MS Exchange 2013/2016, MS SQL, ProLaw Enterprise.
Ideal candidate will have legal industry experience
Knowledge of principles and practices of management, supervision and organization.
Knowledge of state of the art developments in information technology.
Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of technical staff.
Ability to effectively communicate (oral & written) technical information to all customers.
