The I.T. Network Operations Center Manager position is a key “hands-on” leadership role with accountability to lead fundamental changes in how Winston & Strawn implements, manages, and maintains the use of information and technology in a global firm. This role leads a team of Firmwide resources in handling system administration, network monitoring, mobility management, security, and daily network operational activities.
Perform network administration and maintain the firm’s active directory infrastructure and provide consultation on IS systems and services.
Direct responsibility for escalation of Tier III incidents. Work in conjunction with our Infrastructure team to respond to customer impacting issues and outages.
Provide exceptional customer service, technical expertise, and a foundational understanding of the law firm environment, its applications and technical support requirements. Proactively seek to mitigate customer issues, and offer assessments for reducing support issues.
Monitor network systems to ensure high availability and prevent any major disruptions in the firm’s IS systems and services.
This role is part of a unified support team across our 16 offices that is expected to provide assistance for any person in the firm (although travel is expected to be minimal).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for managing and coordinating the daily activities and service requests of the Network Operations Center and team.
Responsible for development and maintenance of Firm’s network monitoring tool, dashboards, and system alerts to ensure high availability of all systems and services.
Responsible for maintaining and administration of Active Directory. Continue to work to identify ways to automate processes to ensure efficiencies in handling all firm system administration including all new hire and termination processes. Some of these duties are automated using Powershell and Dell ARS.
Responsible for creating and maintaining all network administration documentation and formal standard operation procedures.
Direct responsibility for firms mobile device management system, and two factor security systems.
Responsible for Office 365 and Microsoft exchange administration.
Maintain necessary technical skills and knowledge of law firm applications and network industry trends.
Work with Firm’s security and risk management team to monitor systems for viruses, and apply system security measures.
Ability to solve problems by gathering facts and applying general standard operating procedures. Ability to identify reoccurring issues, and work with the network engineering team to identify resolutions.
Extensive software application knowledge including Windows 10 and Microsoft desktop applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the latest and most efficient tools and technologies are being applied and implemented.
Must be specifically listed on resume in order to be considered for this position:
Bachelor’s Degree or 5 + years equivalent work experience required.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in a leading role within a Network Operations Center or Infrastructure Team required.
Minimum 3 + years of experience supporting network and server technologies including Microsoft, Cisco, EMC, and associated hardware and platforms.
Oral and written communication skills to present detailed or complicated information in an understandable way.
Previous coordinator, supervisor, or management experience. Position requires leadership and mentoring of team resources.
Experience leading or participating in process improvement programs, such as DevOps, Lean, Agile, and/or ITIL.
Prior experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
Knowledge of Office 365 administration, strong understanding of Cisco networking technologies, LAN/WAN/Video/VOIP protocols, VMWare virtualization, and EMC storage.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of customers.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule (cover extended shift hours when necessary) and be available after hours as required.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
General knowledge level of all aspects of an Information Technology environment and resources.
Understanding of network and hardware concepts and components.
Working knowledge of SCCM, Active Directory, and Microsoft desktop tools including PowerShell. Knowledge of network monitoring tools (SolarWinds), mobile device management systems, and two factor security systems.
Exceptional communication and leadership experience required.
Clearance of firm standard background check required.
