The Global Information Systems Project Manager position is a key project leadership role with accountability for planning and driving mission critical business and technology projects.

This role is part of the IS Project Management team. The team is a key part of Information Services (IS) group which also includes IT Operations, IT Infrastructure, eDiscovery/Trial Support, Practice and Client Services, Library/Research, Records, Docket, Information Risk Management, Information Working Practices, and IS Procurement, which all report to the Chief Information Officer. It is preferred that the role resides in our Chicago office.
The scope of the Global Business Systems Project Manager role includes planning and managing a program of projects related to transforming the business operations of Winston & Strawn.
Manage the Portfolio of IS projects: Work hand closely with our Global Business Systems Project Manager as well as other IS leaders to manage the wide array of projects that fall within the IS umbrella.
Strategic Business Applications: Plan, guide, and manage multiple application/desktop process and technology projects related to new software, upgrades of existing systems, new desktop/mobile operating systems and other projects. These projects are not just run of the mill software projects; these are projects that help change the way lawyers leverage technology and practice law.
Facilities and Operational Projects: Work in conjunction with our Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Operations with projects related to the opening of new Winston offices or the relocation and growth of existing offices.
Infrastructure/Security: Work alongside our Directors of Infrastructure as well as Risk/Security to plan and facilitate projects related to the purchase, setup, and deployment of new infrastructure as well as software and projects related to information security and protecting Winston’s electronic content.
The scope is not simply to implement these systems and processes, but to work with others focused on practice, client, and data analytics solutions to ensure we create an comprehensive and nimble approach to business and competitive intelligence.
This role includes project, technical, business, and data responsibilities.
Project: Planning and managing the projects, using a team from across a variety of internal teams and external parties
Technical: Based on experience, identifying technical risks and opportunities and sharing lessons learned.
Business: Ensuring that we do more than simply install new software – that we, over time, reach our business goals in terms of efficiencies, usability, data integrity, risk management, and compliance.
Data Architecture: Ensuring that information from within and across systems has high integrity and usefulness.
As a professional and experienced project manager, the expectation is to deliver complex projects on time and on budget despite the great number of resources and conflicting priorities the teams face on any given day. As risks and variations arise, the Project Manager must solve problems and/or explicitly gain agreement to change the active plans and resources.
In addition to managing these projects, the role includes assistance or leadership in relation to other IS projects as needed and development and communication of PM methodologies.

Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum 5 + years of experience in a Project Manager role in a professional services environment require
Experience working in large law firm or professional services environment
Technical competence with hardware, software, and data design and integrations
Understanding and experience implementing software specific to law firms, notably the iManage document management system
5+ years of experience in managing mission critical infrastructure and risk mitigation projects
3+ years of experience in the deployment of desktop/mobile systems in a global environment
An entrepreneurial mindset to create disruptive change
Demonstrable results in improving vendor timeline estimates
Demonstrable experience in managing large, complex, technical projects and a program of such projects
Excellent customer service and executive-level problem resolutions skills, including managing with and without direct authority
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to work with all levels of personnel
Experience in multi-cultural international environments similar to Winston & Strawn
Understanding and experience with hybrid cloud environments
Understanding and experience with lean and DevOps environments
Proficiency with project/portfolio/resources management software
Experience leading product development projects, including systems design, development, and testing phases
Experience or certifications in project or portfolio management, or process improvement methodologies
