The Am Law 200 law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP has an opening for a Competitive & Business Intelligence Research Specialist in our Phoenix, AZ office. This position is a key member of the Library & Research Services team providing competitive intelligence and business development research firm-wide. The Competitive & Business Intelligence Research Specialist works directly and collaboratively with library staff, the firm's Client Relations department, attorneys, and administrative and legal staff.
Conduct research with the strong ability to refine, organize, analyze, and deliver business intelligence reports and other required business development research packages using internal and external resources.
Monitor, evaluate, and disseminate information on companies, individuals, industries, and markets in support of strategic business development and marketing initiatives.
Track news items regarding current or prospective clients and industries and inform appropriate firm contacts as needed.
Remain curious and informed of market and industry trends and able to "connect the dots" when evaluating varying information sources.
Continue development of competitive intelligence techniques and best practices.
Perform other library-related tasks and projects as needed, such as document delivery.
The Competitive & Business Intelligence Research Specialist will meet the following qualifications:
A professional librarian with an MLS, MLIS, or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years law library/research experience. Business development/marketing experience preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and able to maintain short deadlines in an active office environment.
Superior attention to detail and acute verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize and multitask projects effectively and efficiently.
Strong sense of client service and commitment to being part of an integrated team.
Solid work ethic with the flexibility to meet the demands of the position.
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of attorneys and staff, with the professional presence and demeanor to represent the firm.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with the capability to learn quickly and utilize additional software applications and electronic research tools (Bloomberg, D&B, Hoovers, Lex Machina, Lexis, Monitor Suite, Westlaw, etc.).
