Boies Schiller Flexner LLP is seeking a Chief Information Officer who will report to the Information Technology Committee. This position can be based in New York City or Washington, D.C.
The CIO directs, plans and manages the Firm’s Information Systems function to assure the development and implementation of computer operations that meet the Firm’s current and future requirements. The CIO identifies and recommends the best long-term direction for the Technology function, and works with and leads the IT staff to translate approved strategic plans into more specific three-year plans and one-year operating budgets. Primary responsibilities will be to lead and control staffing and development, organization, hardware and software purchases; administer the information systems expense budget, equipment inventory, lease agreements, software licenses, etc.; direct the design, development and maintenance of systems (including LAN, WAN and related connectivity issues), programs, and software; identifies cloud hardware and application needs to ensure that computer capabilities are responsive to the needs of the attorneys and their practices; liaises with management of functional departments on technology matters; develops and is ultimately responsible for implementation of strategic plans and options; working through the Information Technology Committee, establish technology policies, standards, practices and security measures; provide regular reports to the Information Technology Committee as well as suggestions for increasing the technological effectiveness and efficiencies of the Firm; maintain close contact with vendors providing hardware, software and support service; supervise information systems personnel including interviewing and training employees to ensures the IT function provides excellent customer service and network support throughout the Firm.
A minimum ten (10) years’ experience within Information Technology, some of which in a position managing other IT personnel. Significant technical understanding of the systems and programs necessary for the Firm’s operations is expected. Professional certification in security is a plus. Law firm experience desirable, though not required. Ability to work in a team environment with other technical staff in multiple offices. Strong interpersonal skills. This position requires periodic travel.
