Olshan, a 90-attorney law firm based in New York, seeks a Legal Recruitment Manager who will work to further develop and manage all aspects of attorney lateral hiring processes for the Firm. The Manager will oversee the process for identifying, assessing and recruiting lateral partners, associates, counsel, as well as paralegals and managing their on-boarding and integration. The Manager also will be responsible for managing the on-campus interview process and the summer associate program.
This position will work closely with senior management to define and execute recruiting strategies for the Firm including, but not limited to:
Oversight of the recruiting process from on-campus interviews, lateral associates and partners and paraprofessionals
Coordinating and managing interviews, including schedules, briefing materials and feedback
Coordinate all aspects of the summer associate program including pre-summer program on-boarding, planning, managing and attending events (including budget monitoring), overseeing summer orientation, liaising with practice groups to monitor summer associate performance, and maintaining summer associate evaluation files
Management of professional development programs, social activities and budget
Maintaining relationships and serving as a point of contact with preferred search firms to promote the firm and lateral opportunities
Assessing and reporting on market trends, recruiting opportunities and firm recruiting performance
Coordinate on-campus Interviews (OCI), including but not limited to, OCI registration, interviewer selection, and communication with school career offices
Strategically and thoughtfully schedule interviews and second visits for summer associate candidates; oversee follow-up and tracking of callback candidates, including managing outreach and reporting on statuses
Orientation, on-boarding and integration of summer associates, attorneys and other hires
Coordinates in-house CLE programs, including developing and maintaining programs to assist attorneys in obtaining CLE credit; maintain internal website, CE Manager; tracks attorney CLE hours; tracks and pays mandatory-to-license bar dues; track and pay professional association fees for attorneys; stay abreast of current mandatory state guidelines regarding continuing education requirements
Develop & implement annual recruiting and professional development budget
Manage NALP and other relevant Firm forms and profiles
Assist in annual written performance evaluation process and programs
Create and manage student files
Ensure references and background checks are performed
Other Firm special projects as needed
Bachelor’s Degree and Five (5)+ years of recruiting experience in a law firm
Excellent organization, communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work well with others at all levels;
Highly responsive with a strong sense of time management and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines efficiently and effectively;
Ability to comfortably and competently handle sensitive and confidential information;
Self-motivation and flexibility; ability to navigate roadblocks and deal with the unplanned and unexpected to find alternative ways to get things done;
Strong management, presentation, facilitation, research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills;
Strong attention to detail; and
Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, power point and other relevant recruitment software and technology programs and platforms.
