The Director of Training will manage the strategy, development, and implementation of an effective Firm-wide technology training framework and curriculum that meets the needs of the Firm’s attorneys and staff. This framework includes in-house technical classes, virtual training, e-Learning, and assessment and development tools. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer and will supervise the Firm’s Technical Instructors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with key internal business partners, including Human Resources, Legal Support, and Legal Talent in identifying training needs and learning development opportunities for Attorneys and Staff that meet the Firm’s business goals.
Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs.
Lead and manage all aspects of the Training team to meet and exceed the firm’s goals for an effective and efficient training operation, including supervising and coaching Technical Instructors.
Lead an effective solution development cycle that includes needs assessment, course design and development, technology learning environment requirements and tools to measure training effectiveness.
Establish curriculum development standards, templates and processes for the Firm’s Training Department.
Develop and deliver proposals and solutions that support the identified training needs.
Oversee the development and delivery of engaging learning activities and course content that enhances the learning process.
Manage and mentor the Firm’s Technical Instructors in the use of instructional methodologies, principles and technology.
Contribute to the development of instructional guides and reference materials for end users.
Develop KPI’s for each phase of the learning and development cycle, including assessment, design, delivery and evaluation.
Provide oversight of training resources on large projects and implement processes for the adoption of new and existing technology.
Research and identify vendors to provide learning tools, content, project based work, resource augmentation and manage relationships.
Keeps abreast of current and emerging trends in training and ensures that technology training methods are up to date and follow best practices.
Work closely with other Information Services team members as needed to ensure the successful implementation and delivery of training material to end users.
Ensure appropriate management of internal and external communications.
Perform other duties as requested
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience managing a learning and development or training function.
Experience in a law firm or professional services organization is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with all phases of Instructional Systems Design (needs assessment, content analysis and design, implementation and evaluation) and leading talent development initiatives
Proven IT strategic and project delivery excellence, both with internal partners and external clients, as well as demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through others is required.
Previous supervisory experience and the ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge and experience in cross-functional project management methods and techniques.
Knowledge of technical planning and service delivery.
Strong leadership skills and ability to organize, prioritize, delegate and complete projects under short-time constraints, within budget.
Ability to exercise independent judgment in managing multiple projects
Ability to identify improvements and actively pursue and implement changes with positive impact.
