Morrison & Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm with 16 offices worldwide, has an opening for a Document Management Analyst within our Information Technology Department in our San Francisco office.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Guided by department objectives and priorities and under the guidance of the Enterprise Applications Manager, performs implementation, documentation, testing and support of Document Management (DM) systems: database applications, integration methods and related systems/services. Provides strategic recommendations for document management system and database applications based on in?depth analysis of business needs and industry direction. Maintains expert level knowledge on assigned systems and ensures that they are best solution, up to date, and effectively used. Has a thorough understanding of the Firm’s and department’s organizational structure, business goals, policies and procedures. Ensures client service and satisfaction are attained in all areas of position.
1.Perform maintenance, installation/deployment, upgrades, ongoing administration and support tasks for applications including, but not limited to: Document Management systems and applications (e.g. Open Text eDocs 5 or higher) and SQL based functions, databases and integrated systems. Follow up to ensure services and needs are effectively met.
2.Capacity planning, installation and configuration of backend DM architecture (data and application tier). Maintain appropriate test environment.
3.Data replication and manipulation via a variety of methods. Write and maintain code (triggers, functions, stored procedures) to extend or customize existing functionality of DM, provide new features. Database maintenance, including backup, recovery, performance tuning and optimization.
4.Engineer and document DM Disaster Recovery (DM DR) processes and migrations.
5.Maintain and document DM DR and high-availability environment for document management system.
6.Recommend, engineer, and implement procedures and processes to improve the efficiency and the quality of assigned applications and systems.
7.Provide technical support to other IT analysts, assisting them with the deployment and maintenance of application software.
8.Apply in-depth knowledge of Firm needs; resolve and trouble shoot problems in areas of expertise.
9.Apply understanding of configuration of Firm operating systems and utilities. Follow established policies and procedures in supporting applications and hardware.
10.Communicate proactively to ensure issues are clarified, effectively addressed, and resolved with appropriate urgency. Ensure end user satisfaction; maintain accountability throughout resolution, including when issue is delegated or handed off.
11.Adhere to departmental policies such as thorough testing of application updates, changes, or patches in a non-production environment and observe Change Management policies and procedures.
12.Log technical support incidents and requests into the ticket management system from live calls, email, and voice mail systems. Monitor support center incidents assigned to the team to ensure SLAs and OLAs are met for responding to and resolving incidents. Provide succinct and pertinent updates to incidents indicating acted upon resolution and communication to user. Participate in Problems and Knowledge initiatives and other process improvements.
13.Prepare and update technical documentation; ensure non-technical decision makers understand technical matters.
14.Reachable via the firm provided mobile device outside of standard working hours as needed.
1.Serve as project and/or team lead in evaluating, selecting, testing and implementing of software applications, including working with internal firmwide clients to identify and define requirements, researching available options, organizing demos, providing analysis, and acting as a liaison between the Firm and the vendors.
2.Adhere to timelines, budgets and milestones while paying close attention to detail and deliverables.
3.Utilize the IT Project site and keep projects, SOWs, and milestones updated.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Education and Experience
1.Bachelor’s Degree in related field or educational and work equivalent.
1.Expert level knowledge of Document Management systems such as Open Text DM or Interwoven I-Manage. Minimum 5 years of experience.
2.Experience and understanding of SQL, database architecture, best practices, integration, and stored procedure development.
3.Experience with application integration such as SharePoint based portals, file crawling/indexing, appliance based data integration tools (such as IntApp).
4.Solid understanding of the application lifecycle process, including requirement analysis, quality assurance, design, scheduling, implementation, issue tracking, version control and deployment.
5.Experience in Microsoft Active Directory/Group Policy and application deployment software architecture (Microsoft SMS, SCCM) is a plus.
6.Strong knowledge of scripting language and automation of repetitive tasks through scripting language such as Windows Power Shell.
7.Experience with search technology such as Microsoft search, Idol or Decisiv 7 is a huge plus.
