Designs and develops effective eLearning product for the IT Training Department via intake, creation, editing and publishing of training media. Participates on project work, performs needs analysis, makes recommendations about training deliverables that also include instructional outlines, presentations, Quick Reference Guides and eLearning modules. Provides training on firm supported software via instructor lead classroom training, webinars, videoconferencing and one on one coaching.
Works with Manager of Instructional Design and Sr. IT Training Manager to identify topics and appropriate delivery; interacts and collaborates with other members of the IT Training team. May coach more junior staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Designs training classes, reference materials, and training videos (eLearning) for standard firm software and custom applications.
Deliver skills training and rollout training to attorneys, secretaries, and staff on Dechert standard applications via in person instructor lead sessions, webinars, or a combination of the two. May provide New Hire Training if needed.
Provide follow-up support to ensure user adoption of firm technology.
Monitor Help Desk “How Do I” Tickets to identify training opportunities, and propose actions for remediation.
Provides outreach to Practice Groups and Administrative groups to assess their training needs and deliver customized training when needed.
Create test scripts and participate in software testing when needed.
Collaborate with other IT Trainers on all of the above, and provides backup support to trainers in other offices/regions as needed.
Subject Matter Expert on eLearning software, design and publishing. Mentors other trainers on eLearning design and oversees their content creation. Provides preparation and support to other departments utilizing eLearning knowledge.
Apply instructional design theories and practices to design, develop and implement online learning materials.
Create and develop content outlines and assemble multimedia assets for inclusion in eLearning modules to a high standard.
Manage access, storage and archive of eLearning content.
Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and ability to influence an audience to use firm technologies combined with relevant workflow in short videos to be created on demand.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Subject Matter Expert on eLearning software: Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, and Articulate Studio.
Subject Matter Expert in the firm’s Learning Management System; maintains training records, publishes training events, and reports on training progress and eLearning participation.
Knowledge of firm applications: Windows 8, iManage/FileSite 9.3, Microsoft Office 2013 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Skype), Nuance, Workshare Compare, Best Authority, Carpe Diem, Elite, and InterAction.
Excellent group facilitation skills via classroom training and webinars.
Ability to adapt content and/or training delivery method to the target audience.
Possess interpersonal and relationship building skills to work effectively with personnel from all levels and locations of the firm.
Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to write clear and accurate training outlines and user documentation.
Ability to adapt quickly to new applications and technologies.
Maintains an understanding of Firm business and the business processes specific to the office and for the administrative departments and practice groups located in that office.
Provides consultation, technical content expertise, and business process analysis, while promoting a greater adoption of technology and the business application solutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Technology, Education, or equivalent work experience.
Typically has 7 years of Training (including IT course development, eLearning development and training delivery) experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
