The Washington DC office of Finnegan, one of the world’s leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Cybersecurity Manager. The Cybersecurity Manager is responsible for the security of the Firm’s information technology infrastructure, mitigating information security risks and ensuring business continuity. He/she monitors and maintains the security status of the Firm’s network and the intellectual assets held, in accordance with the Firm’s security policies, ensuring that Finnegan has a secure architecture for authorization and authentication internally, as well as with business partners. The Cybersecurity Manager works closely with the CIO, other IT managers, General Counsel, and collaborates with clients, users, vendors and other firm personnel to assess the firm’s risk profile, proactively develop solutions to reduce risks and resolve security issues.
Responsibilities include: proactively monitoring, in conjunction with Optiv, the firm’s Managed SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), ensuring that the implementation of information security is regularly reviewed by an approved independent party, serving as a liaison to the General Counsel in e-discovery related matters, executing searches and producing output as required by the Firm, monitoring methods of physical data security and the firm’s compliance with the security policies and reports on progress, controlling access to the firm’s Information Systems and related security configuration, ensuring quality controls of new computer images periodically to verify all security standards are being met and applied, maintaining updates to the firm’s anti-malware defences, including Cisco FirePower; Symantec Endpoint Protection; and Mimecast, keeping abreast of all specific security issues, including participation in ILTA’s LegalSEC initiative, researching and evaluating new technologies to maintain efficiency and best practices, assisting with the security aspects of the Firm’s mobile solutions and hardware, specifically AirWatch, Finnegan’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution and managing projects for the design, development, implementation, and testing of new or existing information security systems.
Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science; degree in Cybersecurity and CISSP or CEH certification or relevant work experience regarding security and networks preferred, 5 years of experience in an Information Security department and working knowledge of CISSP, CEH and the ISO 27001 security standards. Experience working in a Microsoft Exchange email environment, strong project management skills, ability to take initiative and work under pressure without direct supervision required.
