Schwabe is seeking a Training Specialist to join Schwabe’s Training and Professional Development Department in the Portland office. The Training Specialist provides process improvement and training support for the firm’s attorneys and staff. This position will assist users in the education of new tools, develop training plans for each position, and provide online and in-person training.
A sampling of the duties and responsibilities:
Conducts computer training needs assessment by collecting information pertaining to work procedures, workflow, and reports; understanding job-specific functions and tasks.
Work with administration, firm leadership and managers as necessary to assist in developing and implementing process improvements and trainings for their departments.
Partner with teammates and other coworkers to identify and resolve issues and problems, and make improvements.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization practice area and role responsibility standards
Evaluates training by assessing effectiveness of training to specific job applications
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications
Remain current with up-to-date product information for all released software configurations
Problem-solve computer and system issues with learners
Assist in developing process improvement checklists and manuals for specific practice areas.
Create a learning program that translates into on the job skills
Provides just-in-time training through floor support, phone calls and deskside visits
Consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and quality
Build strong relationships with practice and support staff departments; understanding their processes and workflows and identifying opportunities to leverage technology to drive efficiencies.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills; must have the ability to retain and manage a high level of detail.
Presentation and Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with a diverse group of attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Must be able to understand and follow law office procedures.
Ability to travel to other offices as needed.

Bachelors of Arts or Science in a related field or equivalent work experience
3+ years of training experience - technical aptitude required
Experience with writing and/or maintaining documentation such as user manuals and reference guides
Advanced knowledge in the following computer programs: Microsoft Office, iManage Work, Workshare, Payne Forms and Numbering
