The Technology Trainer, shall ensure that lawyers and staff at Buckley Sandler LLP receive superior training in the use of firm software applications, including but not limited to new hire orientation, continuing education, new technology deployment, and special projects. The trainer’s goal is to ensure that lawyers and staff not only master necessary software features, but can successfully apply them to work situations according to best practices and with the aim of achieving the highest possible levels of personal and team productivity. Although based in Washington, DC the trainer will have responsibility for delivering training to all offices (Washington, DC, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles) through either occasional in-person visits or regular remote/distance learning events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop effective training programs which thoroughly meets identified training needs by utilizing the most effective training strategies, methods, materials and settings to correspond with the type of training needed.
Conduct training in a manner that is attentive, courteous, and responsive to trainees.
Train new employees on the firm’s technology including application usage, remote access, and telephone/voicemail systems.
Deliver customer focused technical training in one-on-one, small or large group settings; presents information in a logical, accurate and effective manner.
Deliver customer focused technical training via webinar and video-conference sessions across all offices.
Provides just-in-time training through floor support, phone calls and deskside visits
Develop training materials including course syllabus, reference guides outlines, exercises, tests and online learning modules.
Work with the Technology Services Manager and other Firm management to determine training objectives, curriculum and work situations requiring training for employees.
Satisfy all administrative duties including maintaining training calendars, submitting key performance measures and other requested reporting in a timely manner.
Continually improve training program content and delivery by objectively observing trainees’ comprehension, retention, and application of training information, reviewing summary of training evaluations and translating trainees’ responses into recommendations for corresponding training programs.
Maintain progressive knowledge of the trends in the software and training industries, making recommendations for upgrading training software, programs, materials and methods accordingly.
Manage the training facilities and equipment to ensure classes can be scheduled as planned.
Assist the Help Desk with troubleshooting software issues and utilizing those situations to provide one-on-one training.
Educate Helpdesk and other IT staff to advance their knowledge of the products in use and improve their effectiveness as first or second level support resources.
Must possess strong listening skills and written and oral communication skills; and the ability to quickly solve problems. Strong customer service and presentation skills. Strong time management, organizational and project planning skills. Ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Must possess proficient technical knowledge of advanced functions of iManage DMS, Intapp TIME, Best Authority, Document Automation Tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, typing speed of 65 wpm and be adaptable to learning new software.
Education, Training and Experience (required or preferred):
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years experience as a Technology Trainer, ideally in a legal or other professional services firm. Extensive knowledge of the advanced features of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience using University Site or other knowledge management system is preferred.
