Plans, coordinates, directs and executes the day-to-day IT activities related to voice and data networks, wireless communications, mobile technology, and computer hardware and software as approved by the Firm.
Must be able to combine conceptualized thinking and visioning with practical every day execution.
Develop and implement strategies firm-wide to maintain systems, government compliance requirements, and security features required for the success of the firm.
Maintain a reliable disaster recovery plan, back-up procedures, and controls for all systems.
Monitor available space on network storage volumes and directing the need to move, delete and organize adequate disk space for consistent network operations.
Monitor and continually evaluate risk and security measures to prevent threats to systems and data.
Oversee hardware and software training for new and current attorneys and staff to ensure efficiencies throughout the firm.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and provide and obtain information with courtesy and tact.
Maintain a department knowledge base.
Work with vendors to review agreements and negotiate contracts for support, licensing, and services.
Prepare the annual budget for maintenance of current systems and capital improvement projects.
Interface with the firm’s Executive Director and Management Committee, as appropriate, to provide advice, recommendations, proposed budgets and implementation strategy on key technology initiatives as well as to provide leadership and forward thinking in identifying best in class solutions to meet the firm’s technology needs.
Guide the planning, management, and implementation of all IT infrastructure and application platform changes including testing, selection and installation of hardware and software and documenting costs, timelines, risks and goals to set expectations and monitoring success.
Strive to maintain system uptimes that are best in class, properly and timely communicate to attorneys and staff with respect to system outages and correction plans, and implement proper strategies for emergency failover of operating system.
Must be able to lift and move typical server, PCs, and other similar hardware. systems.
Work may require more than 35 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
10 or more years’ experience in information systems and technology
Bachelor’s Degree in an IT or business related field is strongly preferred
Law firm or professional services experience is highly desired.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to properly manage major software and hardware projects.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
Microsoft certification preferred. Information technology or project management certifications are advantageous.

Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office products.
Technical knowledge of networking environments, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Windows server operating systems.
Experience with mobile device integration in a BYOD environment; Microsoft Active Sync, OVW and other Firm applications.
Experience with telecommunications systems, services, network hardware, and standards.
Understanding of Legal Technologies such as: Document & Knowledge Management Systems, Legal Accounting, Case Management, Litigation Solutions, Cost Recovery, and Digital Dictation.
Experience with specific legal applications such as PerfectLaw, LegalKey, Best Authority, Payne software and various tax software, Copitrak and others typically found in similarly sized law firm.
Knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN) concepts and Microsoft infrastructure (Active Directory, DNS, etc.). Knowledge of Cisco firewall, switching and routing technologies.
Understanding of Storage Area Networking, hyper-converged solutions, Virtualization (VMware) and Cloud computing, SaaS applications.
Understanding of how non-Microsoft Windows machines integrate with a Microsoft Windows environment.
Experience with network security technologies and methodologies such as Sophos, Mimecast, IDS/IPS, web filtering, malware detection, incident response, etc.
