Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP has an opening for an Enterprise Applications Engineer in our Phoenix office. Our firm is an Am Law 200 law firm that provides a wide range of legal services in the areas of intellectual property, litigation, business transactions, regulatory and government relations.
The Enterprise Applications Engineer is responsible for developing, administering, and supporting the systems and applications underlying essential business functions such as business intake, financial management, and information governance. The enterprise applications team administers technologies such as the firm’s document management system, financial management and reporting, workflow tools, and more. This individual will be expected to become a subject matter expert on one or more technologies and be fluent in the various applications and technologies in use at the firm in order to create integrations and design elegant user-facing solutions. The firm’s enterprise applications primarily consist of commercial solutions (e.g. SharePoint, iManage Work, 3E, IntApp Open, etc.), but there are some custom development requirements as well (e.g. SSRS reports, data integration between platforms, custom SharePoint elements, etc.).
The majority of work conducted by this individual is project-oriented and requires strong technical skill, teamwork, and communication skills. This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Director of Technology.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Administer assigned systems and applications by performing routine maintenance, applying updates, monitoring overall health, defining dependencies, and collaborating with other engineers in IT
Design, install, and configure new commercial systems and applications (e.g. iManage Work, IntApp Walls, IntApp Open, etc.)
Integrate enterprise applications, automate import/export processes, strive for automation, and work to achieve “single instance of the truth” data management
Develop robust documentation and define standard operating procedures for various systems and applications
Plan for ongoing growth and make recommendations to scale solutions to meet the needs of an evolving firm
Collaborate with other engineers in IT to obtain necessary compute and storage requirements to satisfy application requirements
Partner with IT trainers to build end-user documentation and assist with change management planning
Engage with the legal IT community to stay abreast of the latest developments in technology and practice management
Become a subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus at the firm; study related technologies and advocate for innovation and improvement in these areas

Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or related field, or an Associate’s degree with additional related experience
A minimum of 8 years’ experience working in information technology
Previous law firm or professional services industry experience preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, including T-SQL, SSRS reporting, and basic SQL Server administration
Knowledge and hands-on experience with any of the following will be seen very favorably: IntApp Open/Flow/Walls, Elite 3E or Enterprise, iManage Work, and CPi
Knowledge of basic law firm and/or other professional service firm functions such as conflicts, records management, matter centricity (client/matter, customer/engagement, etc.), docketing, patent prosecution, or other related concepts would be beneficial
Experience working in and administering Microsoft 365 cloud services (e.g. SharePoint Online, Dynamics, etc.)
Strong knowledge of traditional client/server application architecture as well as web-based applications
Strong knowledge of protocols such as DNS, SSL, NTLM/Kerberos/ADFS, etc.
Conversant in basic IT infrastructure concepts such as server and storage basics, IP addressing, and core Windows technologies like Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.
Scripting experience with PowerShell, Perl, Python, or other flavor of your choice
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Strong organization, project management, and documentation skills
High ethical standards
Additional Preferred Qualifications (not required, but would certainly help set you apart):
Experience with Office 365/Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud and familiar with various cloud service models, including IaaS, SaaS, PaaS and able to distinguish between them for the purpose of contributing to IT strategy discussions
Coding skills and knowledge of application interoperation (e.g. C#, Python, SQL, understand RESTful APIs, etc.)
Demonstrated success negotiating technical requirements and leading change in a diverse stakeholder environment
Experience managing or contributing to one or more large-scale data transformation projects (e.g. financial system conversion, DMS database consolidation, etc.)
