The Billing Manager reports directly to the Controller and is a key, highly-visible member of the Firm’s Accounting Department. This position is responsible for all billing functions including compliance with client billing guidelines, internal billing policies and procedures, and third-party legal billing programs.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills; a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with attorneys, staff, and co-workers within the firm, as well as clients; and the ability to operate effectively in a deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
Specific Duties include:
Supervise and train billing staff.
Either directly or through the billing staff, resolve problems and issues for attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries as they relate to billing policies and procedures, especially those that pertain to electronic billing services and/or third-party billing auditors.
Ensure adherence to all client billing guidelines.
Support and train attorneys on electronic billing systems, including the preparation of budgets.
Management and administration of all electronic billing services and databases.
Support collections efforts, especially those related to clients who utilize electronic billing services.
Provide/prepare ad hoc reports/analyses of relevant financial data upon request or as directed.
Management of firm’s invoice and pro forma templates.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business discipline.
5+ years of experience as a Billing Manager in a law firm.
Elite 3E / Enterprise experience preferred.
Hands on experience with electronic billing systems.
