This positions supports talent management strategies and professional development programing within the DC Office.
Responsibilities • Cultivate strong working relationships with and provide ongoing support, guidance and assistance to firm leaders, partners, counsel, and associates • Act as liaison with and offer related support to appropriate constituents to ensure program goals are identified and met; engage with associates, counsel, partners and related committees in the DC office in order to remain knowledgeable about needs and obtain current feedback • Identify and address professional-development needs and implement programs to maximize effectiveness and quality • Encourage and facilitate associate career development through the coordination of the DC Associate Talent Development Initiative • In collaboration with the DC Office Managing Partner and relevant Business Partners, coordinate annual review meetings for DC associates, counsel, and non-lawyer professionals • Coordinate with relevant firm leaders to develop orientation and integration strategies and schedule for local hires, including summer associates, entry-level lawyers, and lateral lawyers • Coordinate with firmwide Learning & Development team to implement meaningful evaluative process for all professional development programs to include survey creation, administration, and results collection; analyzes results for trends and developmental gaps; develop recommendations based upon results • Assist in creating, monitoring, and managing local recruiting and professional development budgets • Manage all logistics of meetings and programs including scheduling, vendor support, securing of meeting rooms, meeting room preparation, on-site coordination and trouble-shooting • Coordinate with firmwide CLE team to support accreditation of DC office programming • Assist with DC entry-level and lateral lawyer hiring to ensure that logistical details related to the arrivals of Summer Associates, entry-level lawyers, and lateral hires are appropriately handled • Assist Recruiting Department with on-site logistics regarding the summer associates through on-campus and in-house recruiting programs • Coordinate and implement legal talent-development policies and procedures • Special projects, as needed
Essential Job Specifications/Qualifications • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions regarding the Firm’s lawyer development and recruiting efforts and goals • Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with both internal and external clients at any level • Desire to work collaboratively in an intellectually curious, innovative, and detail-oriented environment

Education/Experience/Certifications • Bachelor’s degree required • Two to three (2-3) years’ experience in professional development at a law firm or equivalent experience in a professional services firm or law school career services department
