The Vice President, Events and Conferences develops and execute the vision and strategy for ILTA’s portfolio of national and international conferences and events, all to meet ILTA’s strategic goals.
Develop the vision, long-term strategy and year roadmap for the conferences and events portfolio:
Lead event design for ILTACON, INSIGHT, LegalSEC Summit and other proposed conferences, with members, business partners, and staff
Make recommendations on the type and number of national and international conferences
Oversee the planning and strategic execution of ILTA events within the portfolio:
National and international live events
Colocation events and alliance events
Collaborate with other functional areas:
Membership and Education, for integration with membership initiatives and communities, areas of knowledge and education programs
Partner Development, for integration with business partners and the utilization of sponsorship and core funding dollars effectively
Marketing and Communications, for promotion for events, social media plans for events, and communication with external contacts and sponsors
Finance, for budgeting and resource allocation
Lead the Events Team and other ILTA staff members supporting conferences, providing direction on, and fostering and supporting an innovative and creative process for:
Event operations and execution
Ongoing continuous improvement
Provide CEO and Board of Directors with recommendations on future site locations for ILTACON.
Reports to the CEO.
Effectively maintains relationships with other functional area leads and team members as they relate to events.
Oversee relationships and contracts with key suppliers – audiovisual, production, event planners, exhibit services, badging and registration, mobile apps, internet access.
Oversee relationships within the hotel and convention center industry, and with global sales managers for potential conference properties.
Oversee the relationships with Convention Services staff at event venues
CMP/CMM designation a plus
At least 10 years experience leading and motivating staff successfully.
At least 10 years of conference planning experience, as well as overall knowledge/experience of all aspects of conference planning including registration, exhibit sales, logistics, program development, catering, and audio-visual innovations, are essential.
Experience in the legal sector is an asset.
Telecommuting is allowed.
