Ballard Spahr LLP, a national law firm with 15 offices across the United States is seeking an Applications Specialist to be responsible for the implementation, daily administration, maintenance, support and documentation of desktop applications and systems relating to computing and technology firm wide.
The successful candidate will possess substantial prior experience administering a complex technical environment and must be able to demonstrate a mature and experienced attitude toward administering applications in a firm wide environment. He or she will have an in-depth knowledge of desktop management methodology; extensive knowledge of PC and laptop configuration including setup, drivers, security, group policy objects and user profiles.

The Applications Specialist will have an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience; experience with project management methodology and technical writing and documentation skills. A working knowledge and prior experience with desktop configuration and support of applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, iManage Worksite, Microsoft SQL Server), Microsoft System, including patch management, application deployment and operating system deployment. Experience with VMware vSphere and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops as well as experience with software deployment and management solutions are required. The successful candidate should be familiar with automating tasks within a Windows desktop and server environment using languages such as PowerShell or Visual Basic. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and familiarity with ITIL concepts is desired. Prior experience working in a law firm environment a plus.
