The Project Manager will serve as a member of the Projects & Programs Team, which provides project management, business systems analysis, and subject matter expertise to define and manage the implementation of projects for the firm in areas such as technology, knowledge management, human resources, risk management, finance, and practice management. This position will manage projects requiring technical expertise, knowledge of the legal environment, knowledge of the organization and logistics coordination. These projects may include analysis of new legal applications, strategic planning related to the use of technology, introduction of new systems, major upgrades of existing systems, and development of technology related policy. Specific Skills Required: • Strong project and time management skills. • Ability to build strong working relationships with legal timekeepers including attorneys. • Successfully navigate the culture of the firm to achieve success. • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and within budget. • Technical skills must be sufficiently advanced to allow full, meaningful participation in project meetings with technology department • Ability to work independently with limited direction. • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a project team of technical and non-technical staff. • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and costs/benefits to non-technical personnel. • Must be able to understand business goals and requirements and translate into functional specifications and ultimately successful projects. • Ability to develop and manage a number of both technical and non-technical projects aligned to the needs of the firm and the strategic direction. • Knowledge of legal industry must be sufficient to seek out solutions that fit within the firm's environment and address the firm's needs. • Able to think creatively and act nimbly to complete projects.
Specific Skills Preferred: • Working knowledge of the legal or other closely related environment. • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. • Understanding of the Project Management Lifecycle and Software Development Life Cycle methodology.
Education and Experience Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant project coordination or project management experience, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
