Under the supervision of the Network Operations Manager, Buckley is looking for a talented Senior Systems Engineer to assist with ensuring the Firm’s mission-critical desktop and related systems are available and properly functioning at all times. The Senior Systems Engineer will also provide assistance building and troubleshooting desktop related infrastructure. The successful candidate for this position will be able to prioritize mission critical tasks and coordinate the design and expansion of systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ownership of the Firm’s desktop management systems (physical and VDI) including but not limited to Microsoft SCCM/InTune, Citrix XenDesktop (including Delivery Controllers), Citrix Storefront, Advanced Group Policy Management, Microsoft Bitlocker Administration and Monitoring, Azure AD/ADFS and Windows Defender.
Ensure continuous availability of technical resources through daily system monitoring, including verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and key processes
Review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled tasks
Work with IT management to architect and deploy new systems
Write custom scripts to improve efficiency
Provide Tier III/other support as needed, including investigating, troubleshooting and resolving issues
Provide Regular upgrades for line of business applications as well as custom packaging of new applications
Routinely test installations for bug detection and other issues
Produce reports on the status of installations, patches or other important metrics
Liaise with vendors, consultants, end users and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Provide technical direction to less experienced IT support staff
May require lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs
May be called upon to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends and/or holidays and will be part of the after-hours escalation call-tree rotation
This position will be filled by an energetic team player with strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to quickly solve problems by being able to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A strong attention to detail as well clear and accurate documentation skills are also required. Must be able to learn new concepts and skills to keep up with the pace of change with technology.
Strong experience with Microsoft SCMM/InTune and Citrix XenDesktop
Experience with Active Directory/Group Policy
Windows 10 operating system deployment experience
Strong understanding of Windows 10 and Office 2016
The ability to understand and take ownership the Firm’s line of business application stack
Application packaging and deployment experience
Ability to create and modify scripts
Familiarity with Virtual Environments (OS and Applications)
Candidates should have strong technical aptitude and the ability to creatively solve problems
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 7+ years’ experience in desktop engineering and IT support. Prior law firm experience is a plus.
