GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Desktop & Mobility Engineering (DME) Manager, and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Desktop Engineer will provide system administration, support, maintenance, and operation of the firm's Microsoft Windows desktop environment. The Desktop Engineer will have a strong knowledge of the Windows desktop operating system and the use of SCCM to include general administration. The Desktop Engineer will be responsible for monitoring the performance and configuration of the Desktop environment to help improve user experience as well as ensure that all systems meet the Firm's security requirements. The Desktop Engineer is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Desktop Engineer must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core Values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):
Operating, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring various Endpoint security solutions.
Administering endpoint backup solution (Cloud or on-prem).
Performing extensive Systems analysis (hardware/software) and make recommendations for systems or process improvement.
Performing complex root-cause analysis and overseeing problem management tasks as it relates to the desktop environment.
Performing administrative tasks within Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
Developing and maintaining processes, procedures, and knowledge base articles for the Enterprise Endpoint Management team.
Advanced technical support for endpoints as well as supporting the OS and endpoint applications lifecycle.
Evaluating new technology based on departmental or business needs.
Working with other team members to maintain a healthy state for the SCCM environment.
Performing Tier 3-level incident and problem support of Windows images and provide necessary recommendations on potential image/system enhancements, speed, security, etc
Maintaining a continuous cycle of patching and reporting to always ensure enterprise wide compliancy.
Continuously monitoring the environment to identify problematic trends and proactively recommend/implement solutions.
Performing software installations and upgrades to operating systems and overseeing the deployment of business critical applications to the firm's desktop environment (virtual/physical).
Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
Develop and promote standard operating procedures.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and provides input for process improvement
Opens and manages vendor problem tickets to resolution.
Evaluates current procedures and processes for accomplishing objectives and continuously develops and implements improved practices.
Participate in cross-functional team projects to implement new or updated technology.
Monitors tools and proactively helps teams with outgoing systems issues.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with various Endpoint Security technologies is preferred
Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager and Windows 10 is preferred
Experience with other supporting components of SCCM such as Microsoft RDS, WSUS, WDS, MDT, MBAM, Bitlocker, WAIK, IIS
