Job Title: Digital Information Governance Manager

Reports To: Assistant General Counsel for Information Governance
FLSA Status: Exempt Schedule: Core Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Eastern), M-F, unless otherwise approved; frequent extended hours often on short notice as required to fulfill responsibilities; availability for travel as required; smart phone and home access to a broadband internet connection required
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Assistant General Counsel for Information Governance, the Digital Information Governance Manager serves as Akin Gump's lead technical professional for digital records management and data protection. The Digital Information Governance Manager is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Digital Information Governance Manager must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core Values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):
Develop and execute procedures for managing the firm's digital information in accordance with records management policies.
Administer and configure the firm's digital records management system.
Develop procedures and tools for digitizing historic and active firm records.
Develop and execute procedures for regularly disposing of non-record information.
Develop and execute procedures for disposing of firm records in accordance with firm record retention policies.
Develop and execute procedures for protecting firm information in accordance with firm data privacy policies and confidentiality obligations.
Develop and maintain user access groups.
Create and maintain Document Management System (DMS) workspaces and other information repositories.
Develop and execute procedures for controlling access to DMS workspaces and other information repositories.
Develop and execute procedures for securely and lawfully transferring data to, from, and within firm systems.
Provide user support for building tailored access control structures.
Support end user compliance with firm information policies and legal requirements.
Develop reference materials that describe firm information policies and best practices for complying with those policies.
Develop and conduct end user training for managing firm information.
Provide desk side support for using the firm's DMS and other information repositories.
Monitor and analyze firm information repositories and flows for compliance with firm information policies and legal obligations.
Diagram and track information repositories and flows.
Build dashboards that display live usage statistics for firm information repositories and flows. Tailor dashboards to the needs of particular firm executives and professionals that need visibility into Akin's information systems.
Draft reports that analyze trends related to user compliance and information needs.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Substantive knowledge of information management practices related to records retention, data privacy controls, and user practices that promote cybersecurity
Proficiency at administering and using document management systems and other repositories that store unstructured data. Experience with NetDocuments is preferred
Proficiency at processing structured and unstructured data for import and export: identifying and producing reasonably usable formats; creating load files; adjusting load files; identifying and executing an efficient transfer method; and controlling quality
Ability to analyze and visualize data with spreadsheets, data dashboards, and other data reporting tools. Experience with SQL databases and Microsoft Power BI preferred
Ability to track and visualize data flows between information systems
Ability to develop techniques, standards, and procedures
Strong project management skills
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and complete projects
Ability to read, write, and speak in English
Availability to travel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with each of the following activities is preferred:
