Information Technology Business Analyst – IT Applications

We are currently searching for an Information Technology Business Analyst – IT Applications for our Pittsburgh, PA office.
The IT Business Analyst role is responsible for identifying, developing and documenting business needs, assessing the impact of system or process changes, eliciting and documenting requirements, and providing insight to ensure requirements are translated into workable business solutions. This role is also responsible for conducting first pass user-acceptance testing and providing post implementation support to business stakeholders and end-users to ensure solutions meet the established needs. This is a technical position and requires experience with technical tools and methodologies in this analyst role. This role will be involved throughout the solution development lifecycle to ensure the optimal development, implementation, integration, user acceptance, and performance of client's applications, systems, and processes both within and across business functions and a good understanding of relational database concepts, client-server concepts, and programming concepts. May lead and direct the work of others and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops complex requirements for process or system solutions which may span multiple business domains by partnering vendors, appropriate IT peers, and business owners/users.
Leveraging multiple business requirements gathering and analysis methodologies to identify business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
Documenting requirements throughout each stage of the project or initiative to ensure requirements are traceable.
Our Project management methodology requires: design and execution of test scripts and test scenarios, issues identification, tracking, resolution and reporting, focus on established project timelines, working with project teams to perform acceptance testing, and ongoing communication as needed changes to all members of the project team.
Documenting comprehensive business cases to assess the costs, benefits, ROI, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of proposed solutions.
Mapping current state against future state processes and providing insight and influence to management on how to integrate requirements with current systems and business processes.
Identifying value gaps and opportunities for process enhancements or efficiencies.
Defining the impact of requirements on upstream and downstream solution components.
Supports solution design by providing insight at design sessions with IT peers to help translate requirements into workable business solutions; advocating for additional data and/or services as necessary to address key business issues.
Establish and maintain processes, best practices, and metrics relating to business analysis. This will include items such as working to establish standards for business analysis relating to project assessment, data modeling, and design considerations.
Work closely with IT and user during entire project and product lifecycle to ensure success and completion of the work, while also understanding the details within a much larger context.
Strong analytical, listening, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Strong technical skills coupled with a deep understanding of obtaining customer's needs so that they can be transformed into application and operational requirements.
Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
Communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; including the need to come up with creative solutions or ideas when projects stall or hit roadblocks.
Adapting to competing demands, multiple complex projects, and new responsibilities.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) desired.
5+ years of experience required for most or all of the above job duties.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to conduct presentations and requirements gathering workshops/exercises. This is especially important when analyzing existing workflows or developing new workflows to address inefficiencies or new processes.
Technical knowledge of SQL Query analyzer, Excel pivots, or other tools used when analyzing issues or developing requirements.
Experience on conversions or system/application replacements and Upgrades. This includes but is not limited to; understanding feature/functionality between systems, analyzing differences in the database schemas or converted data, understanding the existing and new business functions, and the ability to discuss and review with team.
Follow up and follow through are a must.
5+ years of experience in business case development and analysis.
Demonstrated experience implementing modern ERP solutions.
5+ years of experience working on cross-functional project teams.
Must demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the Firm's internal and personnel affairs.
