Legal Resource Group has been retained by a premier 100+ attorney law firm, located in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. The Firm is seeking an accomplished, confident and experienced management professional to lead our innovative technology team.
About the Position Reporting directly to the COO, the Director of Information Technology is responsible for developing, planning and leading the firm’s legal technology strategy (security, web, infrastructure, and client/user support) as well as the management and execution of technology projects that support the business and our clients. This involves managing all IT functions including, but not limited to, network administration, software development and maintenance, digital telephony and data communications, and continuous process improvement.
The Director of Information Technology will provide input and support the Firm’s strategic plan, working with key firm and client stakeholders to deliver this vision. The Director will also determine short- and long-term priorities for technology projects and programs based on user, department, and business needs.
About the Person
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred
5+ years of relevant experience managing a technology department in a professional services firm
Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining strong relationships between business units, users, and clients
Experience and ability to effectively lead and motivate internal and external teams
Experience delivering data analytics and dashboard solutions based on business needs
Understanding of servers, operation systems, routers/switches, general telecommunications, communications, video and LAN/WAN technologies
Understanding proprietary and relevant third-party applications, both functionally and technically:
Understanding of IT security needs for businesses
Competency in the software development delivery life cycle, methods and practices
Demonstrated project planning and management using Agile or Waterfall methodology
Process-oriented critical thinking
Articulate in both oral and written communications
Customer service and business focused
Technology infrastructure management and implementation at the multi-year level
Web based application visioning and understanding
An understanding of Knowledge Management
Budget planning, management and execution at the multi-year level
Successful vendor/third party management and contract negotiations
Virtual Desktop (VDI) environment experience is a plus
