The Knowledge Management (KM) Lawyer is responsible for developing, maintaining and delivering knowledge assets to the Investment Funds practice group. The KM Lawyer will leverage attorney engagement by creating, maintaining and organizing high caliber resources for our internal databases to support service to clients. This includes a collation of research materials, standard forms, model documents, terms grids, other data compilations and precedents.
With the support of practice group attorneys, the KM team and the Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer (CKIO), this role develops best practices to increase efficiency within the practice group. By actively monitoring and sharing legal and market developments, the KM Lawyer ensures the highest quality of legal content is used. This role will also is also responsible for supporting opportunities to develop business from new and existing clients, by participating in preparation of issues outlines, terms grids and other pitch related content.
Coordinate with the KM Director, CKIO and practice group attorneys to foster a culture of knowledge and experience sharing in the group
Work with the KM team to develop and implement solutions and best practices to increase efficiency in the practice group
Coordinate with the legal project management and practice innovation team to identify opportunities to enhance the delivery of legal services in the practice group
Assist in the evaluation and piloting of legal technology, including document, expert systems, artificial intelligence applications and client-facing and investor-facing applications
Create, develop and maintain forms, precedents, checklists, and other substantive content for the practice group; ensuring such content is continuously up-to-date
Identify, collect and organize work product for the practice group in the relevant KM database, ensuring content is readily accessible on the Firm’s intranet and other content sharing platforms
Assist in identifying issues and developments of relevance to key clients
Monitor and inform the practice group of important legal and market developments; supporting the writing and publication of external client alerts on such developments
Utilize practice group attorneys to support the delivery of the KM efforts, coordinate their involvement and seek partner feedback as required
Coordinate with other support groups and departments of the Firm, such as Business Development, to improve content, procedures and communications to stream-line processes and satisfy various departmental needs
Collaborate with other KM lawyers in the Firm and attend KM department meetings to facilitate the sharing of best practices and knowledge
Complete special projects as requested by the KM department and the Practice Head when necessary
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Investment Funds practice is required
Extensive knowledge of legal documents and legal practices, particularly in Investment Funds
Outstanding communication, both written and verbal
Strong customer service and prompt response time to incoming requests
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to solve problems, both technical issues and situations involving collaboration with attorneys and non-legal staff/departments
Demonstrated good business judgments and analytical skills
