The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE), a nonprofit organization, is seeking a Test Editor. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work with law school faculty, judges, and lawyers from around the country to edit new examination items for a suite of high-stakes tests. NCBE develops four examinations for use in determining eligibility of candidates for bar admission: the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE), the Multistate Essay Examination (MEE), and the Multistate Performance Test (MPT).
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Edit new examination items for the MBE, MPRE, MEE, and MPT, providing suggestions for content and style in accordance with established principles and test specifications and confirming cited authority.
Assist with selection of items for test forms, study material, and practice exams.
Oversee production of material for drafting committee meetings.
Attend in-person or virtual committee drafting meetings; attend other professional meetings as needed.
Assist with reviewing item placement on test forms and printer proofs at all stages as needed.
Follow security protocols and promote compliance with those security protocols by drafting committee members and other participants in the test development process.
Graduate of an ABA-approved law school and admitted to the bar in at least one jurisdiction.
Demonstrated writing and editing skills.
High level of organizational and time management skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to travel to meetings across the U.S. and Canada.
