Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
The Backup & Recovery Service Engineer will serve as the Service Owner within Jones Day for the Firm’s data and system backup and recovery solutions. As a Service Owner, the Engineer must understand current and proposed future data and system backup and recovery technologies, and is responsible for ensuring that proper definition, standards, engineering methodologies, metrics, documentation and best practices are implemented as part of the Firm’s backup and recovery environment. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to continuously improve the Firm’s ability to recommend and implement safeguards to ensure the Firm’s data, applications and systems can be recovered and maintain the Firm’s ability to operate in the event of data corruption, data loss, system failures or environmental failures including data centers and cloud based applications. Additionally, the Engineer will effectively and promptly work with technical and non-technical end users to resolve service problems, regardless of the underlying cause. This includes on-premises and cloud based systems utilizing Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux, vendor appliances, Microsoft SQL databases, SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments. As the technology and the Firm’s data constantly evolve with the changing cloud, hardware and software technologies, so must the recommendations and implementations change to keep pace.

Four year college degree or advanced training and certifications from Dell EMC (DCA, DCS, or DCE), VMware (VCP, VCAP, or VCDX), Microsoft (MCSA or MCSE), and/or RedHat (RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA).
Minimum of ten years work experience in providing expert technical support for server, storage, and backup solutions while maintaining an understanding of current industry trends with the demonstrative ability of making recommendations and implementing change.
Capable of working effectively on small, medium, and large projects, spanning both internal development and product selection/acquisition, solid experience in all aspects of the systems development lifecycle and able to lead projects through the entire life cycle.
