Job Description Gunderson Dettmer is seeking a full-time Applications Engineer to work at any of our offices in the United States (Silicon Valley, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Ann Arbor). Position Summary The Applications Engineer is responsible for performing project work from inception to completion and providing support with the implementation, upgrades, functional and technical maintenance of the firm’s applications. This position reports to Director of Applications Development, and provides technical support across the firm on IT related issues. The ideal candidate will have prior experience administering at least one or two of the applications - Intapp Open, iGovern or any Records Management program, Aderant Expert, iManage Work. Job Duties and Responsibilities - Responsible for testing, upgrading, implementing and deploying the latest versions of existing software or new software to the firm’s sections and departments.
- Provide guidance and support to others in the Information Technology department on how to best install software and support the firm’s users.
- Own and resolve issues as they are escalated by the HelpDesk.
- Carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: software upgrades and enhancements, software implementations and rollouts to specific departments and sections/practice areas, custom development and configuration, primary and backup ownership of multiple software applications and multi-tiered systems.
- Data synchronization across multiple systems. Patch and maintain software and enterprise systems.
- Serve as subject matter expert for specific applications, with primary responsibility being administration, maintenance, and application upgrades.
- Maintain IT documentation. Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the IT department. Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
- Flexible to work outside of business hrs is required.
- Install and test programs, adhering to security guidelines set forth by security team.
Core Competencies and Skills - In depth knowledge of client/server & database application environments.
- Strong understanding and ability to troubleshoot web applications in an environment primarily supported by Microsoft technologies is must.
- Strong familiarity working with Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures, relational database structures, SQL DTS and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is required.
- Working knowledge of Windows Servers 2012 or 2016, SQL Server 2012/2016, Active Directory and Windows security is must.
- Law firm experience is highly preferred. Knowledge of legal-specific software for Document Management Systems, Records management, and Timekeeping system is a huge plus.
- Display self-motivation by prioritizing changing responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision, and logic with comprehensive knowledge of Windows-based, client-server applications in order to conduct detailed analysis of applications’ project work including testing and installation.
- Proficiency with SharePoint 2016 a plus.
Educational Requirements - BS in Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
