The Legal Technology Innovation Solutions Analyst will work with the Senior Director of Legal Technology Innovation (LTI) and other LTI staff to develop innovative strategies, drive initiatives, and promote and monitor the use and effectiveness of the firm’s knowledge management and legal technology systems and services. The LTI Solutions Specialist will work with Practice and Administrative groups as well as clients to facilitate legal technology solutions and knowledge creation, capture and sharing in line with the goals of the LTI group.
Use knowledge of the business of law to assist in selecting and designing technology solutions for attorneys and clients
Collaborate with senior level business management and lawyers to transform high-level strategic initiatives and concepts in Legal Technology Innovation (LTI) and Knowledge Management (KM) into actionable projects that improve lawyers’ access to information and delivery of work product to clients
Conduct and manage requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to understand, document and prioritize detailed user needs to collaborate with and inform Practice Innovation and other IS groups
Work closely with the Business Information and Applications Development Groups to ensure that the configuration and development of LTI and KM products meet or exceed customer requirements
Champion product awareness and adoption by working with the business sponsor, practice group, PI training and development teams and other IS groups to produce communications and support activities to overcome barriers to product acceptance and use
Conduct compelling product and feature demonstrations that convey product and subject matter expertise to a variety of audiences
Work with multi-functional teams and leadership to develop and execute selected process improvement projects and in some cases to lead the project
Work on legal technology and knowledge management problems/projects of diverse scope
Gather, track and share customer and team feedback related to legal technology and KM products
Develop and administer analytical reports to monitor utilization and efficiency of various LTI and KM applications
Develop subject-matter expertise and technical mastery of all LTI and KM applications
Develop and manage relationships with Alston & Bird attorneys and staff
Participate in relevant networking and educational events, developing relationships with peers and vendors
Monitor industry news, trends and follow changes in vendor developments and roadmaps
Identify new legal technology and KM products and develop business cases for their use in the firm
Understand industry standards and best practices in working with LTI and KM tools
Contribute to knowledge sharing on team collaboration sites
Achieve and maintain relevant professional certifications, licenses and skills
Ensure transparency and timely communication to the Senior Director of Legal Technology Innovation for all projects, initiatives and issues
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned
Skills Needed to be Successful
A minimum of four years of experience working in a law firm. Direct extensive experience working with legal technology applications. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
A Juris Doctorate is preferred, but not required
Certifications or commensurate experience in business analysis, project management, design thinking or Lean Six Sigma desired
Successful candidates will possess a working knowledge of legal processes so that he/she can assist in designing solutions that support the work of lawyers
Strong analytical skills are critical along with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts, features and benefits to both business users and project teams
Must be able to excite and motivate lawyers, staff and clients with a compelling vision of projects and products
Must be a very strong communicator and able to interact with lawyers and other professionals at all levels within the organization
Experience planning and executing awareness and adoption campaigns
Prior experience with intranets, extranets, search solutions, legal research and analytics resources, document management systems, and other legal technology software
Prior experience with document automation, machine learning, data analytics and other advanced technology for delivering legal services highly desired
An understanding of SharePoint is highly desired
Demonstrated aptitude to learn new software and technical concepts
Ability to handle pressure, focus on high-tedium detail, work independently with little direction, work on a team and recognize when to seek guidance from superiors
Experience in medium to large law firm or professional services firm strongly desired
