The Legal Transformation + Innovation practice works with law firms and corporate law departments to deliver complex, often novel projects connected to the business of law and the delivery of legal services. These solutions are non-routine, and they require ingenuity, technical command, context, good judgment, and the application of thoughtful change management. The Senior Manager leading Digital Transformation & Analytics engagements is expected to play a key leadership and delivery role on technical projects, contribute to planning of group projects, oversee some complex projects somewhat independently and interface with regularly with clients.
While HBR Consulting is headquartered in Chicago, this role can sit remotely across the US.
Serve as the day-to-day leader on engagements, managing all aspects of projects including guiding internal resources, facilitating requirements gathering, conducting data analysis and research, training and mentoring junior team members and implementing the identified opportunities directly alongside client senior management
Successfully manage multiple simultaneous engagements through client team collaboration, leverage internal intellectual property and knowledge, prepare and present meeting materials, identifying improvements and efficiencies, technology or vendor evaluations and implementation and communication with both internal team members as well as external area stakeholders
Work directly and regularly with client leadership teams and executives and willingly engage, provide updates, and simply convey complex work
Examine, analyze and mine various large datasets to extract meaning, patterns and predictive signals
Design, develop and deploy machine learning models for clients, products, and internal use cases
Directly support and deliver engagements to assist clients with digital transformation initiatives, including those related to client collaboration platforms
Collect data and information in the review and analytical work to successfully derive insights, prepare findings and recommendations
Structure nebulous problems, develop and apply conceptual frameworks and analytical approaches, create new tools and methodologies, and develop recommendations for client implementation
Steward engagement financials, practice operations as well as business development and proposal efforts
Demonstrate legal industry/practice expertise and consulting capabilities
Display attention to detail and ensure high quality deliverables
Support and provide content leadership in the form of blog postings, articles, presentations and other marketing content
Independently structure, write, and present effectively, generating organized and persuasive deliverables
Develop new intellectual capital including new and insightful frameworks and analyses
Promote organizational development by taking initiative to identify and cultivate new clients and business opportunities, and identify opportunities to provide additional client value and extension of existing client relationships
Be a strong team player and developer of consulting staff
Leverage internal intellectual property and knowledge, prepare and present meeting materials, collaborate and communicate with internal team members as well as external area stakeholders
Set and lead team goals and objectives based on project plan; manage resources and monitor project progress and performance to ensure key milestones and deliverables are met
Support internal practice initiatives such as developing new revenue channels, contributing to other internal practice initiatives, proposals, recruiting, and external marketing efforts and thought leadership
Promote business through writing, research and maintaining other publicly facing material, such as marketing collateral
Understand and speak to the capabilities of HBR including key products and service offerings
Participate in business development, such as drafting proposals
Develop business opportunities and nurture key client relationships toward material contribution toward revenue objectives
Display focus and sound judgment in researching approaches and designing solutions to new problems
Willingly learn new technologies, techniques and methods to provide the most efficient and contemporary solutions to our clients

Bachelor's degree required, with preference given to those with computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, physical science, information systems and finance degrees
8 – 10 years of relevant experience within the legal industry or consulting experience centered on strategy, analytics, process improvement or solution design preferred
JD, MBA or Master’s Degree in computer science, data analytics, statistics, computational linguistics or service design highly desirable
Proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, R, SQL, Julia
Familiarity and experience with one or more of the following data visualization tools: MS Power BI, Tableau, Qlik
Ability to think strategically and identify critical business issues
Exceptional analytical skills and experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis
Exceptional business acumen, presence and interpersonal/communication skills
