Brownstein is currently recruiting for a Pricing Manager to be resident in our Denver office. We are currently seeking an individual who is interested in developing the pricing function at the firm to respond to the needs of our clients, attorneys and policy professionals. The Pricing Manager will play a critical role in developing and advancing the Pricing team’s responsibilities and will contribute significantly towards the Firm's financial objectives. The Pricing Manager will report to the Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis, and will supervise the Pricing Analyst who will provide support for the many responsibilities of the Pricing Manager.
Work with key stakeholders, including attorneys, policy professionals and business services staff, to support the development of profitable pricing solutions in response to client RFPs and informal pricing requests.
Perform sophisticated analysis and predictive price and profitability modeling.
Advise, educate and coach attorneys on the potential risks and rewards of fee arrangements, and support them in rate and fee negotiations with clients.
Provide leadership in the development, evaluation and monitoring of alternative fee arrangements, with appropriate consideration of quantitative and qualitative criteria.
Work on the search, evaluation and implementation of a pricing application that will support the needs and goals of the pricing function.
Approve new client pricing, discussing any potential issues with attorneys, and ensuring fee proposals are consistent with the firm’s strategic goals and appropriately capture value.
Conduct year-end planning meetings alongside the CFO, meeting with attorneys to establish rates and hour goals for the coming year.
Lead the annual client rate review process, meeting with attorneys as needed and working with other Finance personnel to ensure accurate implementation of rate changes.
Develop and proliferate best practices, tools, templates, and reference materials across the firm’s client portfolio.
Work with attorneys to respond to client requests regarding pricing, budgeting and budget tracking capabilities.
Complete post mortem assessments and recommend process improvements as appropriate.
Keep abreast of industry trends and identify opportunities for improving the firm’s pricing strategy, policies and procedures.
Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.
Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent. MBA and/or JD preferred.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience with demonstrated growth in scope of responsibilities, ideally within a law firm or professional services organization.
Minimum 4 years of specific strategic financial, pricing analysis, reporting and/or project management experience in a law firm or a professional services firm with advanced knowledge of the legal industry.
Strong commercial / business acumen, with the ability to understand the larger context surrounding pricing approaches and translate those into a body of knowledge that helps shape the Firm's pricing strategy in the US and globally.
Advanced level of expertise in financial modelling and spreadsheet functionality is required. Candidate must be able to draw conclusions and present findings to firm management based on financial models and data analyses.
Experience with 3E, Enterprise or Aderant is strongly preferred
Experience with SQL is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Access and PowerPoint.
Possess the confidence, interpersonal skills, attention to detail and sound judgement to communicate effectively with the Firm’s senior management, attorneys, policy professionals and business staff.
Experience managing a small team is preferred

We are offering a wide range salary for this role as our salary will match up with the years of experience the successful candidate possesses, ranging from $135,000 - $165,000.
