Pillsbury Law's Nashville Operations Center is seeking an experienced Director of Applications to join our team.
The Director of Applications will plan, coordinate, and direct all activities related to the development and management of applications that enhance business operations and associated back-office systems. The candidate has the skills, experience, drive, and passion to ensure that the Firm has the appropriate IT applications to achieve/exceed corporate objectives; to ensure business alignment with executive team members and sponsors; and to anticipate the needs of the business and scale the team to stay ahead of the curve. The Director must be motivated and successful at mentoring by building and sustaining professional relationships at all levels of an organization. The Director has well-honed problem solving and decision-making skills, is agile and adaptable, and can effectively manage change. This position is both strategic and tactical, can influence adoption, is results oriented, and has a strong client service orientation.
Responsibilities include providing direction and leadership; ensuring ongoing system performance, integration, and data integrity of all commercial, in-house developed and Cloud applications; in coordination with the CIO and IT Director team, develop, communicate, and facilitate the implementation of a strategic plan for applications focused on user experience; drive executive level communication / support for the IT Applications strategy. In addition, the Director will explore and communicate to IT and firm leadership on current legal and business technology innovations and trends; analyze existing processes for possible improvements and take action where opportunities have been identified; maintain and manage a comprehensive application portfolio, report on benchmarks.
This individual will function as the key liaison with the various practice and administrative departments with regards to application strategy; ensure the appropriate level of business analysis is completed for proposed applications solutions and ensure timely acquisition and implementation of solutions; oversee the business relationship with the legal practices and business functions and translate needs into process and software solutions; ensure end-user expectations are clearly understood and being met; lead key strategic project initiatives, in conjunction with the PMO, oversee the developing of comprehensive project plans, timelines, resource plans, communications, and other pertinent documentation and manage vendor relationships and maintain a fundamental understanding of key vendor product roadmaps and their impact on IT strategy.
Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology management, information technology or related field; have ten (10) years’ experience managing complex computerized business operations. In addition, candidate’s experience must include increasingly responsible management level responsibilities for an organization-wide enterprise applications development and support; and five (5) years leading complex IT applications projects, preferably in a professional services environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of application delivery in a mobile environment; have knowledge of ITIL and SDLC frameworks; have a strong working knowledge of budgeting and financial management; and have the ability to communicate technical information to all levels of IT staff and clients. Candidates should have superior analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and technical skills; possess a client service attitude with ability to persuade and educate when appropriate, excellent collaborative skills with applications and product teams; have the ability to develop best practices around IT services provisioning and implement consistent policies and processes cross-functionally.
Candidates should also have leadership skills that can energize multidiscipline work teams in various locations to respond to business needs; have strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from design through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors; be highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to use sound judgment when working with team members; have strong interpersonal, communication (both written and oral) and time management skills; have excellent team management, coaching, and mentoring skills; be able to work with multiple project and work streams concurrently, with an ability to lead the delivery of work products on time and within budget and must have proven ability to resolve issues, mitigate roadblocks, and meet all management goals on time consistently and collaboratively.
