Under the general direction of the Research Services Director, the Research Specialist performs research, reference and related information services to support the transactional practice groups. This position requires attention to detail, excellent research skills and strong written and verbal communication. The ability to work in a collaborative environment is expected and required.
Performs business and legal research utilizing a wide array of fee-based, print or online research tools, including Bloomberg Law, the Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, Intelligize, Deal Point Data, Lexis Advance and Westlaw.
Conducts factual research as well as document organization and production.
Monitors and curates current awareness alerts as assigned.
Provides support on other projects or duties as assigned.
Accounts for billable time by submitting diaries on a regular basis.
Experience / Education
Bachelors from an accredited university or college. Minimum G.P.A of 3.5. Interest in research as demonstrated through coursework, extracurricular activities or jobs and internships strongly preferred.
Basic knowledge of public company regulatory filing requirements and business terminology.
Technical proficiency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and word processing applications.
Strong interpersonal, research, verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective working relationships with attorneys, clients and support staff.
Dedication to provide upper-margin customer service.
Demonstrate close attention to detail with the ability to provide accurate, neat and thorough work product.
Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
Ability to quickly learn new research applications.
Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.
Attendance Requirements: Assigned to the New York Office. This position is currently remote with a Monday through Friday schedule from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30pm. Available when necessary before or after normal working hours in order to meet the needs of the firm. Travel Requirements: Ability to work onsite in the New York office as required.
