Dechert LLP’s New York office is hiring a Professional Support Lawyer to work continuously with our Corporate & Securities (C&S) Partners and Associates in the US offices. The Professional Support Lawyer will act as a resource to all U.S. Finance lawyers and will support an environment of experiential training and collaboration to promote best and consistent practice; advise Partners and Associates on the relevant legal and commercial developments in the Finance practice area so they can better service the firm’s clients; and assist partners and marketing personnel in developing marketing and pitch materials. The Professional Support Lawyer will liaise with Practice Group Management, IT, and the Director of Library & Research Services in order to develop and maintain a practical knowledge management system and, over time, will facilitate and support a rigorous training program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversee implementation of a knowledge management program within the Finance Practice Group to achieve improved communication and resources for legal skills and client development;
To work with Partners and Associates to organize and contribute to training sessions aimed at briefing attorneys on new developments and changes to the law, practice and precedents and current market developments;
Practice and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation;
Contribute to the production of articles, briefings, newsletters or other materials for circulation to clients or to be published in selected journals; and
To produce materials for, and assist with internal and external seminars.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
At least 4+ years of experience as a practitioner in the area of Finance.
Prior knowledge management experience preferred.
Experience as a trainer, teacher or coach valued.
A thorough understanding of Finance and related areas of law, markets, and services delivered specifically for: (a) finance, and (b) debt capital markets and (c) distressed and special situations.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly and effectively communicate with varying levels of people within and outside of the Firm.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and to perform as a member of a geographically dispersed team.
Familiarity with basic legal technology systems and the ability to learn new technology applications.
