Position Summary:
This highly visible, hands-on position within the Applications Management group leads the team responsible for the firm’s Desktop Virtualization platform. This team evaluates, configures, analyzes, manages, tests, implements, and supports the firm’s Desktop Virtualization platform (CITRIX) both on-premises and in the cloud. Additionally, the position leads the team which manages the firm’s various cloud storage services and various collaboration technology platforms.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages and evaluates Remote Access Engineers, Systems Analysts and Cloud Application Specialists/Engineers on the Desktop Virtualization and Cloud Storage/Collaboration Technologies team.
- Prepares project plans and timetables for defined projects and major operational tasks.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting on both servers and workstations as it relates to Desktop Virtualization and Azure/Microsoft Office 365 based technologies.
- Prioritizes team resources to meet firm, departmental and project objectives.
- Makes recommendations to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and performance on responsible systems and business services.
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors and advocates for improvements to responsible products and services.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for multiple business critical applications and services including but not limited to CITRIX, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Secure File Transfer and cloud storage (Box, DropBox, ShareFile).
- Maintains effective change control for responsible systems and business services.
- Participates in the budgeting and licensing process to ensure that only the necessary amount of licensing, applications and hardware needed is purchased.
- Writes automation as needed to complete assigned operational tasks and projects assignments.
- Authors and contributes to the development and maintenance of end user support and system documentation for responsible systems.
- Participates in a rolling on-call schedule as well as occasional off hour maintenance and scheduled upgrades/patching.
- Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Director, Applications Management.
Skills & Competencies:
- Substantial knowledge of various Desktop Virtualization technologies and products.
- Substantial technical understanding of cloud and collaboration concepts and capabilities.
- Ability to quickly analyze technology incidents, apply resolutions, or implement temporary solutions to minimize disruption to business operations.
- Skills with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
- Demonstrated experience working with a helpdesk and general troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Works well as an individual and as part of a team.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse and remote team
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience administering Desktop Virtualization platforms such as CITRIX and VMWare.
- 3-5 years’ experience administering various cloud services products such as Box, DropBox, ShareFile, Accellion and LiquidFiles.
- 3-5 years’ experience administering Cloud-based products and services.
- 3-5 years’ experience managing personnel
- Experience directly supporting end users using remote assistance technologies and the ability to remain professional under stressful situations.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting desktop virtualization and cloud system components.
- Experience with using product APIs when scripting administrative tasks via PowerShell.
- CITRIX, Azure or Microsoft Office 365 Certifications a plus
