GENERAL PURPOSE The Technology Education Manager is responsible for the strategy and successful implementation of all technical training from start to finish. This includes conducting needs assessments, developing and maintaining training materials and determining appropriate delivery methods, instructors and venues to improve adoption and usability of technology. The Technology Education Manager will help create a learning culture of digital learning enablement using various tools and methodologies to design a user-centered approach for training today's attorneys and staff with an advanced focus on digital literacy.
This position requires outstanding leadership, writing and presentation skills, critical thinking, decision making and initiative. The ability to prioritize work, demonstrate resourcefulness, and to exhibit flexibility and attention to detail is crucial. This role requires effective working relationships with all levels of firm personnel. The individual will become a subject matter expert in various practice area workflows, while applying technology to enhance and streamline those processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.
Training & communications • Develop overall and individualized training strategy to promote efficient use of technology. • Assess training needs through surveys, focus groups, skills assessments, and by working with various committees and teams. • Actively engage with practice groups and individual attorneys to continually update best practices while gaining technology feedback. • Collaborate with professional development and staff training programs, as well as other administrative and legal departments, to deliver cohesive and consistent training. • Develop, maintain and deploy effective internal communications. • Provide guidance with training methodologies, effective presentation and distribution of necessary materials to internal trainers. • Develop training that will effectively apply to a multi-generational audience. • Keep current with training trends and tools by actively participating in professional associations and continuous learning. • Support IT initiatives using change management, process improvement, and collaboration. • Develop a multi-modal approach to continue to drive toward digital literacy (including but not limited to face to face, eLearning, & self-directed learning opportunities).
Management • Manage, hire and develop firm wide training staff. • Leverage resources and subject matter experts in contemporary learning methodologies. • Design and measure success metrics to monitor progress and user adoption. • Set priorities for training staff. • Provide direct & organized feedback. • Oversee the Learning Management System and other training resources. • Manage and monitor the budget. • Develop and manage strong vendor relationships. • Perform other duties, as assigned. • Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the Firm's attendance expectations.
TRAVEL This position may require travel.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs. • Expert in adult learning methodologies and training delivery. • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships working collaboratively and virtually in a multi-office law firm. • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle. • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process. • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools. • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS). • Specific knowledge in UniversitySite is a plus.
SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Knowledge of legal technology tools including document management, document production, and time entry are a plus. Industry certifications highly desired (Association for Talent Development, Society of Technical Communication, Microsoft MOS, PROSCI, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of manager-level experience in training and learning development, or relevant field.
