Ballard Spahr, a national law firm with 15 offices across the country has a new opportunity available in our IS department. The IS Financial Analyst will assist IS functions in aligning with the firm’s and department’s strategy through building financial strategies, budgets and other sound financial operating plans, establishing strategic expense and support targets, presenting key financial and other performance information, tracking savings, and helping to develop a quantitative and metrics-driven culture.
Our Analyst will:
- Analyze and present financial reports to the IS management team in an accurate and timely manner and clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial performance statements
- Manage expense forecasting and other information that can be used for functional and business investment analysis, expansion planning, business communication, etc. and manage financial performance metrics to ensure that sustained improvement is achieved
- Oversee annual budgeting and planning processes as well as administration of IS financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keeps senior leadership team abreast of the department’s financial status
- Participate in and help coordinate strategic planning around the technology project portfolio with the IS core leadership team
- Apply strong financial acumen and understanding of financial analysis concepts and supporting methodology
The selected individual will be proactive, a self-starter and generate innovative ideas, approaches and solutions. Advanced analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Solid communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision on moderately complex tasks, set priorities and manage multiple deadlines are essential.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or other related field and a minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance position as it directly relates to IS with experience in the preparation and management of technology budgets. Strong financial acumen; understanding of financial analysis concepts and supporting methodology and software to assist management with effective decision-making. Strong demonstrated skills needed with Microsoft Office (full suite). This position reports directly to the Chief Information Services Officer and can be remote if located in Arizona, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota or Utah with occasional travel to Philadelphia.
