The Chicago office of Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking a Voice and Data Specialist to join its Technical Operations Department. The Voice and Data Specialist will act as an in-house technical expert on the communications infrastructure of the Firm, reporting to the Senior Manager of Technical Operations. Serving as the primary point of contact between the Firm and numerous data and telecom providers, the position oversees contracts for all Voice and Data services, including Internet circuits, WAN, Audio Conferencing, Zoom, WebEx, and colocation facilities. Additionally, the position assists in the review of all structured cabling and other infrastructure requirements for Chapman construction projects. The position requires an in-office presence but includes flexibility for some remote work.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the Voice and Data Specialist will include:
Manages all existing voice and data contracts and procures new service contracts as needed
Assists in review of structured cabling and communications infrastructure for new construction projects
Assists with moves, adds, and changes for telephony systems
Assists with monthly review of invoices vs contracted rates and SLAs as needed
Responds to troubleshooting and service requests for voice and network issues as needed
Provides reports and recommendations to management for communications initiatives as needed
Assists with training on communications technologies as needed
Assigns and provisions new phone and fax accounts as needed
Assists with on-site support in the I.S. department as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience working with communication carriers at a law firm or other professional services firm.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills required
Proficiency with MS Office 365
Prior experience with reviewing construction communications blueprints required
Experience and familiarity with troubleshooting both network and VoIP issues
Experience with Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone, and Cisco Meraki preferred
