OVERVIEW Performs complex clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments and prepares accounting statements and financial reports and other duties as assigned. Reports to Director of Administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable company regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Posts journal entries to general ledger.
Generates reconciliations to be used by supervisor or auditor.
Prepares grant reports and tracks related expenditures.
Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
Processes payroll through 3rd party vendor and prepares necessary payroll reports.
Prepares reconciliations, financial reports and various accounting statements.
Assists with charitable solicitation filings.
Backs up accounts payable and receivable position and accounting associate position.
Assists the NSBA with maintenance of its membership management system (data entry) and processing of association dues.
Other duties as assigned. Provide backup for other departments.
Thorough understanding of accounting practices and procedures
Required experience:
Proficient in Quickbooks online accounting software
MS Office (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel-intermediate or above level)
May occasionally require travel and/or overtime, evenings, and weekends (e.g., Annual Meeting and NSBA events).
Must be willing and able to learn new tasks, acquire new skills, and creatively approach problem solving.
The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, good verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, is organized and team oriented.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK A part-time schedule will be arranged with the successful candidate during normal days and hours of work which are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexible work arrangement may be available after probationary period.
