Position Objective Meritas, the premier global alliance of independent business law firms, seeks a Legal Technology Program Manager to lead and grow its legal technology program. This is a high-impact, strategic role ideal for a dynamic professional who understands the evolving legal technology landscape, with particular knowledge of the mid-market law firm sector.
The position will build a forward-thinking technology program that delivers insights, fosters innovation and helps members stay competitive in an increasingly tech-driven legal environment. The successful candidate will also lead vendor relationships and sponsorship efforts, position Meritas as a thought leader and a connector for members’ legal technology progression. The position reports directly to the President.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Create a vision and manage the program • Develop and implement an evolving strategy for the Meritas’ Legal Technology Program. • Design initiatives that encourage members to enhance their legal technology strategies. • Promote Meritas as a network of tech-forward firms to the broader marketplace. • Evaluate program impact on member value, network differentiation, and revenue generation.
Drive value for members • Deliver presentations on emerging legal technology trends. • Offer individual guidance, best practices and consultations to members. • Lead the effort to create best practices, policies, recommended strategies for members. • Create benchmarks and success metrics to help members assess their progression. • Negotiate preferred pricing arrangements with key vendors.
Strengthen member engagement • Drive member participation and engagement in tech-related programs and initiatives. • Foster a community of IT professionals globally to share knowledge and best practices.
Build and execute a channel partner program • Maintain global awareness of current and emerging legal technology vendors and solutions • Identify and cultivate relationships with vendors that align with member needs. • Develop sponsorship packages and secure vendor support for Meritas programs.
Administration • Track and manage multiple deliverables, and ensure coordination across team members. • Create and publish thought leadership, program updates and engaging social media. • Facilitate and support Meritas’ efforts to collect data and insights regarding legal technology • Respond to member firm and team member requests in a timely manner
Metrics, Measurements and Success Factors • High degree of trust and confidence from member firms • Communications, service to members, and team engagement are consistent with the global Meritas brand • Proactive and disciplined management of agreed upon strategies • Creation and management of budget and timeline for initiatives • Securing relevant sponsorships from appropriate vendors • Meritas firm’s demonstrate increased awareness of and adoption of legal technology

Qualifications and Experience • 5-7 years of experience in a technology role within a professional services setting, sales or product role at a legal technology company, or similar position(s) • Demonstrated understanding of commercial drivers, business development processes, and market research tools • Ability to travel globally (estimated at 40%) • Experience as a thought leader and content producer, experience responding to media requests valued • Exceptional interpersonal skills including: o Ability to build rapport and quickly engender trust o A passion for meeting and connecting people to produce results o Intuitive understanding of what is needed to motivate others to achieve results o Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and high level of diplomacy o Ability to present information in a professional manner and generate credibility with clients • Excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite applications effectively; experience with database/marketing software applications relevant to business development is an advantage • Self-starter with high level of initiative; self-motivated • Professional presentation • Collaborative • Flexibility to meet work requirements as dictated by the business objectives
