RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as career counselor, transition advisor, and coach to associates and other attorneys as well as law firm business services professionals on full spectrum of career management issues
- Provide career counseling, advice, and direction, with a particular focus on driving the overall strategy of the job search, for attorneys in transition
- Help attorneys develop, produce, and closely edit a large array of written materials including resumes, cover letters, email correspondence, applications, etc.
- Conduct interview strategy, preparation, and mock interviews
- Counsel attorneys on networking - utilizing both social media platforms and traditional methods
- Guide clients to explore alternative career options, and advise on short- and long-term career goals
- Coach clients on personal development skills, including organization and time management, leadership, management, delegation, communication, and client relations
- Work with the GCG team on the development of training modules and other programming; manage RFP process, create presentations and workshops, prepare slides and materials; deliver and facilitate programs and seminars
- Contribute to project team on HR/PD in-firm projects, including diverse sponsorship and mentorship programs
- Regional travel is required, and national travel is occasionally necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current or former role at a law school in career services is strongly preferred as this is most on point experience for the role with GCG
- Experience in coaching, counseling, recruitment, or HR in the legal industry will be considered
- High degree of coachability and demonstrated commitment to learning
- Keen understanding of career development issues effecting the legal profession
- Ability to identify and analyze trends in the legal profession
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills, along with the capability to work closely and flexibly with a small, tight-knit team of professionals
- Professionalism, personal initiative, compassion, and a healthy sense of humor are a must
- J.D., or Master’s-level counseling degree, required
